Bandon result awaited
Results from the Irish offshore exploration well on the Bandon prospect are expected some time soon operator Serica Energy has indicated.
Drilling on Bandon commenced on 11 May and the well is currently operating, with Serica saying in its first quarter results statement that the outcome of the well is expected shortly.
The Bandon well is being drilled in the Slyne Basin off the West coast of Ireland in licence 1/06 covering blocks 27/4, 27/5 (west) and 27/9.
AGR Petroleum Services has been hired to provide drilling services during the Bandon offshore programme, and the well is being drilled with the Ocean Guardian semi-submersible.
Earlier this year Serica clinched a farmout deal for the Bandon well with RWE DEA which is paying most of the well costs. Serica is the operator of the licence and retains 50% equity in the Bandon well.
Further exploration drilling by Serica this year includes the Conan prospect in the East Irish Sea, where Serica has 100% in blocks 113/26b and 113/27c.
Conan and Doyle are Sherwood sandstone gas prospects and Conan has a seismic amplitude anomaly at a top reservoir level covering an area of 28 sq. km – making it the largest undrilled amplitude anomaly in that basin. Serica is trying to track down a farm-in partner to share Conan drilling costs
Also the company due to drill the Tuong Vi well offshore Vietnam this month.
